A Fresh Start

Stewardship 2022

The world has lived through a time never imagined: the coronavirus pandemic.

Family members and friends became ill with COVID-19. In the United States alone, more than 700,000 people have died from the disease.

Foundations were shaken. Life plans and schedules were overturned. Faith was shaken.

At First United Methodist Church Garland, we've experienced this disruption firsthand. People left. Some decided they don't need church anymore. Our congregation looks different.

But in the midst of uncertainty and sorrow, we hear the strains of the psalmist:

"O sing to the Lord a new song ..." Psalm 96

Even in the midst of great change - perhaps because of great change - the Lord calls on God's people to hear the New Song emerging, and to begin humming that new tune.

"... I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19

And so we begin again where we are.

There are ministries to nourish. There is work to do. There are new neighbors to meet.

The Resurrected Christ calls us to begin again. To start here.

Be a part of this new beginning. Invest in the Lord's work right here at 801 West Avenue B in Garland, Texas. There's a new song to sing.
